In 2016, our association signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Tibet Shan Yuan Foundation, assisting the foundation in conducting research on livelihood improvement projects in Nepal, achieving significant results. In October of the same year, the foundation’s director returned to Nepal to conduct further research and discuss proposed public welfare projects. Our association coordinated meetings for the foundation’s director with the then Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
During these meetings, the director introduced plans for upcoming post-disaster reconstruction and livelihood improvement projects in Nepal and presented both leaders with Chinese calligraphy works titled “Long Live Nepal-China Friendship” and “Love Across the Himalayas”.
Prime Minister Prachanda and Deputy Prime Minister Mahara expressed appreciation and gratitude for the Tibet Shan Yuan Foundation and NCKCPDA’s commitment to promoting Nepal-China friendship and improving livelihoods. They emphasized that NGOs play an essential role in fostering friendship between the peoples of the two countries and should act proactively and positively in bilateral relations. The Nepalese government and people look forward to Chinese NGOs contributing significantly to post-disaster reconstruction, livelihood improvement, economic development, and people-to-people friendship, becoming true ambassadors of Nepal-China friendship.
Currently, our association and the Tibet Shan Yuan Foundation have jointly launched the following projects:
Stove Donation Project for Northern Regions
“Love Across the Himalayas: Caring for Children” – Care Package Donation Project
These projects aim to provide 50,000–80,000 stoves and 30,000–50,000 care packages to impoverished families and Tibetan households in the northern regions over the next three years, benefiting approximately 300,000–400,000 people. Preliminary work for these projects is actively underway
Our association also invited and hosted a delegation from the Red Cross and Charitable Foundation of Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province, to Nepal. The delegation decided to support the construction of three schools in severely affected areas. One of these schools, with an investment of 4 million yuan, began construction in May 2017.
